Two-Thirds World
Some Trousers features are of special interest to schools ministering in the two-thirds world:
- Sometimes these
schools share facilities and hence share PCs. Also, some schools
offer several programs of study which, for purposes of academic
record-keeping, resemble separate schools. Trousers allows data of many
"schools" to exist on one PC. Trousers maintains data of each
school separately.
- In some parts of
the world paper for computer printers is expensive. Therefore
Trousers reports can be routed to print or to screen.
- Reports may be configured to 8.5" x 11" paper or to the narrower and longer A4 paper which is standard in much of the world.
- Trousers
offers
partial support for non-English users by allowing substitution of local
language equivalents for text. End result: all reports, including
transcripts and grade sheets, can be created completely in Spanish,
French, Portuguese, or other Latin-based languages. An
upcoming version of Trousers will allow this for most non-Latin
languages such
as Cyrillic script, Arabic, or Hebrew.
